Discovering The Plane

As home-building carpenters, we've largely traded traditional hand tools for the speed of power tools. I never questioned that until I picked up a set of hand planes out of curiosity. What started as an experiment quickly became a lesson in slowing down, understanding the material, and realizing that some of the oldest tools still have a place on today's jobsite. This isn't about replacing modern tools; it's about rediscovering when the traditional solution might actually be the better one.
